Getting Started

You need to reference:

  • to demonstrate that you have undertaken research for your academic work
  • to avoid accusations of plagiarism
  • to acknowledge the work of other authors, which can be found in books, journal articles, websites etc.

There are two components to APA referencing: citing within the text of your paper and the reference list at the end.

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the use of another author’s ideas and words, either intentionally or unintentionally, without acknowledging the source of the information. It is an academic offence. Avoid plagiarism by referencing correctly.

Anti-Plagiarism Policy

Policy, procedures and guidelines on plagiarism.

Academic Integrity

Refer to SETU's Academic Integrity policy.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI)

Refer to SETU Student Guidelines on the use of Gen AI.
