SETU Libraries: Using the Libraries

Using the libraries

  • All registered SETU students are entitled to access any of the libraries on our campus sites   
  • Important information for students using the libraries is outlined below

Borrowing Books

Borrowing books from the library is free. You will need your student card to access the library and borrow books. 

  • Use Library Search (see below) to find the book you want or ask at the library desk for help finding the book
  • Pick up the book from the shelf 
  • Bring the book and your library card to the library desk and library staff will check it out to you
  • Take note of the return date

Books can be returned to the library using the Book Drops available at the entrance to the Luke Wadding Library and College St library or you can drop them back to the library desk. 

Library PC's (Waterford)

Luke Wadding Library, Cork Rd 
There are 36 PC's located on Entrance Level for students to use on a first come first serve basis, logging in with you student username and password. There are an additional 36 PC's located in the Library Learning Centre which students can use if there is no library tutorial taking place. Please check the timetable on the door of the learning centre. 

College St Library
Students are welcome to use the 11 PC's in the library and a further 19 are available in the CSC library Learning Centre provided it is not in use. 

Laptops/WiFi (Waterford)

If you wish to use your own personal laptop you can connect to the Eduroam WiFi logging in with your student username and password. Eduroam WiFi is available in all 3rd level education settings in Ireland. At seat sockets are available at all study spaces in College St Library and Luke Wadding Library, Cork Rd. so you can charge your laptop or phone as you work.

Printing & Photocopying (Waterford)

Photocopying machines are located on Entrance level in Luke Wadding Library, Cork Rd. and in the Student Hub beside the library in College St. Library.

Printing is available from PC's and from laptops across the 2 campuses. When you send a document to print it will print from the photocopier.

Borrowing books (Carlow)

To borrow books from the library you will need your student or staff card. 

  • You can use library search: print resources to find resources within the library. 
  • Once you find a book you can check it out by coming up to the library desk or using the self-checkout machine. 
  • Take note of the return date, and note that you can renew your books online through your library account. 

Books can be returned at the book return bin or at the library desk.

SETU Carlow Library 

There are PCS located on each level of the library which can be used by using your sign-in for the college. Please contact the computer support team if you find any issues with the PCs. 

SETU Wexford

There are 12 pcs located in the Wexford campus library that are available to use. 

If you have any issues in relation to printing or wifi in the library please direct all queries to computer support, whose email is: itservices.cw@setu.ie. 

Making use of your library account (Carlow)

Your library account allows you to see what books you have out, renew any books you have and place holds on books. It is also how you access the library's online resources, your library account details are the same as your login to your email. How to access it is showcased in the video below. 

How to renew your book (Carlow)

To renew books, please log into your library account, and you will be able to see the books you've taken and able to renew them from there. Books can be renewed up to three times for standard loans and one time for short loan books. You can also renew it by coming up to the library desk.
