What is EndNote 20?

EndNote is a reference management software application which enables users to manage all the references that they need for their research in one place.

With EndNote you can:

  • Create a library of references
  • Search databases and import the references directly into EndNote
  • Organise and manage your references in your EndNote library
  • Select a citation style from a large number of styles available on EndNote
  • Store journal article PDFs
  • Sync your EndNote library a cloud version of EndNote, EndNote Online.
  • Use a feature called Cite While You Write which allows you to insert references and automatically create bibliographies for your research.

We currently hold a site license for EndNote 20. If you have access to EndNote Desktop you also have access to an enhanced version of the online companion site, EndNote Online which you can sync with an EndNote 20 library.

Accessing Endnote

EndNote 20 is available to all students.  If you have a college PC/laptop EndNote should already be installed on it. If not please contact Computer Services, COMPUTERSERVICES.WD@SETU.IE. If you wish to have EndNote software installed on a personal PC/laptop please contact Geraldine Molloy (Geraldine.Molloy@SETU.ie).

EndNote Online is a free basic version of EndNote. Go to the Databases page on the library website and choose EndNote Online. It is a good idea to set up your account whilst on campus as you have access to more features than if you were to set up the account off campus.

There are also other alternative reference management systems that are freely available online. See the guide Citation Management Tools for information about these.
