What is EndNote?

  • EndNote is reference management software which allows students and staff to create their own database or 'library' of references.
  • These references can be then quickly and easily inserted into assignments and research papers to create in-text citations, reference lists and bibliographies.
  • All students and staff have access to EndNote 20 which is one of the most powerful reference management tools available.
  • This guide will give you an introduction to using EndNote 20 and if you need further assistance please see the Training and Support options below.

Get EndNote 20

EndNote 20 is available to all students and staff.

  • If you have a college PC/laptop EndNote should already be installed on it. If not please contact Computer Services, computerservices.wd@setu.ie.
  • If you wish to have EndNote software installed on a personal PC/laptop please contact Computer Services (computerservices.wd@setu.ie.).

EndNote Online

Referencing / Output Styles

There are 100's of different referencing styles or output styles available through EndNote. The 500 most popular styles are available on the software and any additional styles needed can be downloaded from Output Styles on the Endnote website.

The file below is an EndNote style file for Harvard which follows the referencing guidelines on Harvard Referencing - SETU Waterford Libraries guide. It can be downloaded to EndNote Desktop by selecting it and then clicking the .ens link in your downloads folder. This will open up EndNote 20 where you will be prompted to save the style.
